Breweries with helpful tasting notes

Not all breweries are helpful when describing their beers and the ingredients in them. Listed below are some description-friendly breweries that provide useful information on their beers. Therefore, we suggest trying these brands first when first using your kit as the descriptions provided by these breweries will give you a better appreciation of their beers. Most of this hop related information is summarized in our Hop Database. Once you have tasted all the beers that these breweries have to offer you should be a beer tasting pro!

Samuel Adams

- The biggest craft brewery in the United States, Samuel Adams provides a ton of information on their different beers which makes them easy to taste and appreciate. Go to the World of Beer section on their web site and click on Beer Styles. Their Boston Lager is a good, first-time beer to taste with the hop kit.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company

- One of the pioneers in craft brewing, Sierra Nevada's site has detailed information on the hops used in their different beers, as well as how they are used. Their beers are some of the easiest to pick the hops out of.

Red Hook Ale Brewery

- Log on to the Red Hook webpage and then go to the "Our Ales" section. You will have to click on the details section of each beer to find the hop information.

Saranac

- Saranac's site provides detailed information on the beer they produce and the hops used all in a user friendly format.

Widmer Brothers

- Widmer Brothers is another brewery that provides detailed hop information on their beers.

Fuller's

- There is plenty of information on the Fuller's site, but finding it can be tricky. Go to the "Brands" section and look for their Tasting Notes on each beer.

St. Arnold Brewing Company

- St. Arnold's is a smaller brewery, but they have included useful information on most of their beers.

Rogue Ales

- Rogue Ales provides the hop information on most of their beers.

Alaskan Brewing Company

-Alaskan Brewing's web site includes good information on both the hops and malt ingredients of their beers.

BOULEVARD BREWING COMPANY

- Boulevard Brewing provides plenty o' good information on their web site, more than most.

Harpoon Brewery

- Harpoon Brewery has information on their ingredients, but you have dig and read the detailed descriptions to find the needed information for some of their beers.

Full Sail Brewing

- Bring your shovel and start digging. Full Sail Brewery may have hop information on some of their beers, but we really think they are trying to hide it from us on their web site.

Pyramid Breweries

- Pyramid Breweries has a good site that has useful information on their beer

Samuel Smith's Brewery

- Minimal information on some of their beers, but Samuel Smith's site has some useful hints there.
